Pierre Gemayel Assassination

On 21 November 2006, Pierre Amine Gemayel was assassinated in the Metn area during a period marked by political tensions and a series of assassinations targeting public figures in Lebanon. He was a Lebanese politician and member of Parliament, and the son of former president Amine Gemayel. He was affiliated with the Kataeb Party and was first elected to Parliament in 2000, then re-elected in 2005. Following the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon in 2005, he served as Minister of Industry.
